Pattaya Country Club & Resort
Holes: 18 / Par: 72 / 6775 Yards / (Established 1995)
Pattaya Country Club and Resort Chonburi has 18 holes and was deigned by the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of Thailand. The course is located approximately 25 km from central Pattaya.
This course is laid out on a hilly country side and uses an incredibly large area of land. This lends itself so many holes are situated on the course boundary. Most are not adjoining each other and consequently most holes have out of bounds either their right, left or to make things interesting on both sides.
This course has a great layout with a mix of doglegs with water carries and is a good course for beginner to mid handicapper.
Pattaya Golf Courses – Phoenix Golf & Country Club
Holes:27 / Par:72 / 7300 Yards /(Est 1993)
Phoenix Golf & Country Club is designed by Dennis Griffiths. The course is located approximately 15 minutes from central Pattaya and has 27 holes on offer. Each of the nines is named the Mountain, Lake and Ocean and best describes the types of landscape played on.
The course is a Parkland style design and is set on wooded, rolling terrain. The course fairways are narrow and tree lined with bunkers to catch the wayward shot. Although fairways are narrow, the greens are relatively easy with few undulations. The lakes nine has plenty of water that comes into play off the tee and around the greens.
The last hole on the Ocean course is an extremely beautiful spot. The 9th tee is at the highest point on the course and affords a great view of Jomtien Beach and Pattaya city. Looking off to the left there’s a giant golden Buddha on the rock face. This is quite a view from one of the most popular Pattaya golf courses.
Pleasant Valley Golf & Country Club
Holes: 18 / Par:72 / 7002 Yards / (Established 2008)
Pleasant Valley Golf & Country Club is situated at the base of the mountains south of Chon Buri and north of Pattaya city. Cool breezes prevail much of the time making this course comfortable when others might be a bit hot for visiting golfers. The Khao Kheow National Park is just a few minutes by car from the Pleasant Valley clubhouse and offers a relaxing way to take in lake and waterfall scenery.
Golfing guests appreciate the well-maintained tee boxes, fairways, and greens that truly make playing here pleasant as per the name. Golf East designed the layout to be a little more challenging than most of the other Pattaya golf courses. Several holes play alongside and through natural reeded swamps and ponds that cross the fairways. Poorly hit golf balls often end up in these waste areas and are gone forever, or at least until the pro shop divers harvest them.
Hole 12 is a par 5 that doglegs left off the tee and then back to the right approaching the green with water down the entire right side. Another interesting hole is the short par four 3rd hole that plays 341 yards with a lake in the middle of the fairway that requires a carry of 200 yards from the back tee. The lake itself is only 80 yards long so timid souls can lay up or play the appropriate tee. From the forward tee it is only 106 yards carry. Having four tee boxes is a wise design element, especially on such a challenging course.
The course is easy to walk as most elevation changes are internal built up areas rather than larger natural hills that are found at nearby courses like Khao Kheow Country Club. Remember when you play here that the east nine putts generally break away from the mountains and the west nine tends to break toward the mountains because a small north and south valley does run through the center of the course. Modern facilities round out the Pleasant Valley experience making this Pattaya golf course a good choice for most golfers.
Rayong Green Valley Country Club
Holes:18 / Par:72 / 7096 Yards / (Established 1992)
Rayong Green Valley is situated among the hills near the Gulf of Thailand and is approx 25 minutes from Pattaya. It is one of the most picturesque and popular golf courses in the Pattaya area with the local and international golfers. The clubhouse services its sister course St. Andrews 2000 which is adjoined next door.
A Peter Thomson and M Wolveridge design course features flora mixed with large rocks and bunker locations challenging the good golfer. There are some very slippery dogleg holes. The greens vary from large to small, and this is not a course to lose your concentration on. The clubhouse facilities include a golf pro shop with all essential accessories, a restaurant and a large swimming pool.
St Andrews 2000 Golf Course
Holes:18 / Par:74 / 7777 Yards / (Est 2000)
St. Andrews 2000 Golf Club covers undulating natural terrain about 40 minutes southeast of Pattaya off Highway 36 on the way to Rayong. This is one of the more popular Pattaya Golf courses. Guests give this track high marks and you would expect that with a course designed by Desmond Muirhead. If you enjoy a links challenge then this course is a must for your golfing itinerary. You will find very few small water hazards and the same goes for bunkers. Here you have rather wide fairways to rather small greens, some as narrow as nine meters. While the overall elevation change is about 70feet, the landscape is undulating rather than as severe as many other Pattaya golf courses.
This Pattaya golf course offers a challenge targeting players with handicaps of 18 or lower. Playing at over 7700 yards to par 74, this is a tough course layout. St Andrews 2000 features elevated tees and greens It has split elevation fairways leading to both large and small putting surfaces. The course consists of two par six holes at more than 800 yards each! The back nine in particular has large elevation changes and views of the surrounding hillsides.
While aimed at players with handicaps of 18 or lower it is one of the most challenging of Pattaya golf courses and courses in South East Asia. Multiple tee placements ease the experience for the average golfer but regardless of which tees you play from the 700-yard fourth and 910-yard 13th hole with tiered greens are daunting encounters. This course is a must when you are in the Pattaya city area. It will trump all the difficult course stories from your friends back home and make them seem like child’s play.
The St Andrews clubhouse and resort are well operated with rooms overlooking the golf course. Green fees are on the high side for Pattaya golf courses and with the compulsory golf cart; this course may not fit into everyone’s budget. However, if just for the bragging rights to be the fist on the block to have played two PAR sixes it should be worth it. If you’re on a golf holiday in Pattaya it is a must-play course.
Siam Country Club Plantation
Holes:27 / Par:72 / 7016 Yards / (Established 2008)
Siam Country Club Plantation is one of the most amazing Pattaya golf courses. Just 15 minutes from Jomtien beach. The Plantation course is one of the longest in Thailand.
Siam Country Club Plantation course served as the site of the Honda LPGA Thailand. The 27-hole Schmidt-Curley design is situated on a former pineapple and tapioca plantation and is home to Asia’s first triple green, shaped like a clover.
This is one of the most challenging Pattaya golf courses featuring blind shots, giant high lipped bunkers, elevated greens and shaved fringes on every hole, making the course a must play for even the most experienced golfer. For golfers wishing to get ready for their round the course has world class practice facilities including putting greens, a driving range with pitching area and a sand bunker.
Treasure Hill Golf & Country Club
Holes:18 / Par:72 / 7214 Yards / (Established 1997)
Treasure Hill Golf & Country Club has some small water hazards to negotiate and fewer than usual bunkers that are a bit larger than normal. There are several dogleg holes demanding that you position your tee shots carefully. This membership golf course sits on foothill terrain that makes it quite challenging, with sloping fairways and greens. Even the avid golfer may find it challenging to play their normal shots on this course and this is part of the charm and substance of an enjoyable round of golf.
Nestled in tropical jungle forests at the base of an isolated mountain adds drama and aids perspective in judging distances for golfers. You will find Treasure Hill’s course and facilities in excellent condition, making you glad you added it to your golfing itinerary.
Walk or ride a golf cart along the rolling fairways with plenty to see between shots. Within Pattaya golf courses this seems to cooperate with the lay of the land as opposed to being imposed upon it. Yoshikazu Kato designed this track to championship standards with course management as important as physical skill in thinking your way around the course.
